Now that we are approaching our 8th season, we have begun to assert our dominance in the area of club football. After hosting winning records for the past 3 years, we are looking for our first NCFA national title. The club is student run, and coached by a group of selected retirees from the local Oxford area. Most of the coaches have played and/or coached at Miami, and have a good amount of coaching experience. The club was formed in early January of 2007 by its first officers: Andy Bahr, Brandon Wolf, Louis Linneman, and Nick Powell. The club was formed because they simply wanted to play football again. The club will also be an active member in improving the university and surrounding community. Some of the best traits of the club are its player eligibility requirements. Tryouts permitting, any Miami branch student, who is currently enrolled, is eligible. The club strives to not only develop each student athletically, but also allows each member the chance to take on leadership responsibilities and become more active at Miami.
Miami is a member of the National Club Football Association (NCFA), we play in the Great Lakes conference – East. The goal of the NCFA is to create a nationwide club football organization similar to the NCAA. Perks of doing so include larger conferences and possibility of a national championship. Check out their website here. In 2012 the club competed in the inaugural NCFA National Championship in Salem, Virginia. Many of our players use our program as a stepping stone to make the varsity team. We have had several players make the jump to varsity.
